HOW MUCH CAN I FIT IN A ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER?

Arranging a dumpster rental can make decluttering a house before putting it on the market or disposing of home remodeling debris a snap. Instead of wasting time and gas making repeated trips to the dump, you simply toss everything into a roll-off dumpster, and we haul it away when it’s full.

You’re here reading this because you’ve already decided a dumpster rental is a smart idea, but you’re wondering how much you can fit in a roll-off dumpster, and what size dumpster you should get. Hopefully, this blog will help you make your decision.

Roll-Off Dumpster Sizes

How much you can fit in a roll-off dumpster depends on what size you get. We have 3 dumpster sizes available:

SizeDimensionsWeight Limit
10 cubic yards12’ Long x 8’ Wide x 3.5’ Tall2-3 tons (4,000-6,000 lbs)
15 cubic yards14’ Long x 8’ Wide x 4’ Tall2-3 tons (4,000-6,000 lbs)
20 cubic yards14’ Long x 8’ Wide x 5.5’ Tall

2-4 tons (4,000-8,000 lbs)

All of our roll-off dumpsters have doors at one end that you can open and walk things in. You can also toss things in over the side once the heavier and larger items have already been loaded.  Pay attention to the weight limits. This can really come into play if you’re getting rid of heavy materials like concrete or wet carpeting.

Now let’s get into the specifics of what will fit in each size.

What Will Fit In A 10-Yard Dumpster?

This is the smallest size dumpster we offer, and it can be the ideal size for smaller projects like clearing out your garage, basement, or attic. To put it into literal terms, a dumpster this size can typically hold 50-60 33-gallon size trash bags. These are the extra-large trash bags you might put lawn debris in. This size will fit debris from a bathroom remodel or small kitchen renovation.

What Will Fit In A 15-Yard Dumpster?

This dumpster is popular for a lot of home improvement projects, including roofing jobs, landscaping and hardscaping projects, and home cleanouts. It can hold the equivalent of 70-90 33-gallon trash bags.

What Will Fit In A 20-Yard Dumpster?

This is the largest size we offer. Since it’s taller, than the 15-yard dumpster, it will fit even more. This size dumpster can hold 100-120 33-gallon size trash bags. It holds the equivalent of about 10 pickup truck loads of debris. It will fit debris from larger renovation projects, including replacing carpeting.

Whichever size roll-off dumpster you choose, be careful not to fill it above the top, because that will result in overage fees, or prevent us from hauling it away. In addition, if it’s going to rain, cover your dumpster with tarps or plastic sheeting to keep water out. It can increase the weight of upholstered furniture or carpeting that you’re getting rid of.
